So far so good. ONE AGGRAVATION - to backtrack a bit, I tried buying one of these a couple of years ago and no matter what I did, I could not get it to charge or start running, so I returned it. I know and love the Seiko brand so when this watch was on sale, I tried again. I was having the same problem - no starting after 2 days of exposure to light - until I just pushed the stem in - and it started. It was aggravating because the stem was NOT obviously out - it was not detectable to me that it was out at all, but I was just so puzzled that the watch wouldn't start, I was trying everything I could think of. (including shaking, hah) Then when I tried to pull the stem out again, it was very very difficult - a tiny little thing, and sits very close to the watch. Luckily I have just enough fingernails that I was finally able to do it. i decided to keep the watch because it truly IS gorgeous and I'm tired of replacing batteries so often for my other Seikos. I don't look forward to having to reset it anytime soon tho - I'm actually afraid I'm going to break the stem sometime in the process of trying to pull it out. Watch price not bad tho so if I get a year's wear out of it I'll be happy. I'll update this a year from now. :-)

Update: +stopped working after 2 months, went to trash bin.

This SEIKO is a remarkable quartz that somehow lost 30 seconds a day.
The watch is flimsy and feels like a counterfeit.

Seiko comes across strongly as a purchasing mistake.

This is the first and absolutely the last time I bought Seiko, and I will remember to advise others to go for Citizen whenever I get a chance.

I am not particularly happy with the style as I would love to have had a slimmer face without the border of rhinestones. I also think the bracelet style is a little sporty for the watch face. The watch face itself has a mother-of-pearl caste and is quite pretty. I really wanted a solar watch and this seemed to be the best I could find. The bracelet was very, very large but I bought a watch band link remover kit when I ordered the watch. I was rather hesitant in using it but my daughter-in-law came and soon had it apart. It would fit better on my tiny wrist if the clasp was not so long. I had no difficulty in getting it charged and set.

This watch is incredibly pretty in-person. It's jewelry - very sparkly and expensive looking. However, it may not work for you if you have narrow bone structure. While it is easy to have it adjusted by a jeweler, the clasp is such that there are 1.75" solid pieces of metal that fold over each other as you close it. This leaves a fairly substantial flap of solid metal, and on me it cannot be centered in such a way that it lies flat on the underside of my wrist while also keeping the watch face centered on the top. In order to keep the face centered, the clasp (and the thus the flap) are positioned to one side and the flap sticks out and won't lie flat. It also has a tendency to come out from behind the band. It's very annoying. The jeweler took out all the pieces of the band on one side in order to try and center it, but to no avail. A real shame.

I love Seiko watches. They are durable and dependable.
I still have the one this replaced that I'd had for 12 years.
I was just tired of getting a new battery put in every couple of years,
and the gold band had faded some.
The new one is two toned ,goes with both white and yellow gold jewelry.
The crystals add a dash of feminine elegance. I like the pearl dial and it's easy
to read. It's not tiny or huge, just right.
The band was too large for my small wrist.
I paid the jeweler at Service Repair $7 to take several links out.
For the more adventurous, there is a video on youtube that will instruct you to do it yourself.
I thought $7 was worth not having a nervous breakdown. LOL
I highly recommend this lovely, sturdy watch. It looks great on my wrist.
It was one of the best Christmas gifts that I ever picked out and let someone else pay for. :)
Put it on your wish list and when the price gets right, go for it.

Received with plenty of time to study the directions and start it. However, this watch would not start no matter how many times you follow the directions. There is no getting this piece to work. Multiple people have tried. Looks great but it just wont work. Had to buy a battery watch so that I would have a present that actually works. It was a great lesson. This wont happen again.

I got this for my wife a few months ago. I charged it under an LED lamp overnight and it has been running ever since, even though it is rarely exposed to direct sunlight or any bright source of light. If it ever runs down (when the second hand starts jumping two seconds at a time) then I'll just stick it under the LED for another night. She loves the way this watch looks and it is so practical ... easy to read and has a second hand. Unfortunately she hardly ever wears the expensive Rado Diamond Jubilee watch I also gave her ... it looks like a piece of jewelry but is very hard to read and will need new batteries every year or two. I paid $95 for this watch which must have been a good deal because it seems to be selling for $194 now.
