About this game

Every stone changes the balance. Choose Beginner, Casual, Advanced, or Expert, with larger boards and deeper computer search.

All four levels are available from the start. Play black, white or a random side. Undo a turn to continue as an unscored practice game. On a phone, tap an empty point to preview a stone, tap elsewhere to reposition it, and tap that stone again to play. You can zoom and pan. Results appear below the board with distinct win and loss sounds.

Play friends online on a 15×15 board with 90 seconds per turn. Set a room password and share it or an invitation link, then ready up together. Rematches and reconnection are supported. Saved computer games remain available.

  • Solo and online play
  • Supports checkpoints. Resume from the last saved position.

How to play

  1. Black moves first. Place one stone on an empty intersection each turn. Five or more consecutive stones horizontally, vertically or diagonally win. There are no forbidden moves. A full board without a winner is a draw.
  2. Computer mode: Beginner uses 15×15, Casual 17×17, Advanced 19×19, and Expert 21×21. These four levels award 10, 30, 80 or 200 points respectively for each scored win. Wins can be repeated. Losses, draws, resignations, abandoned games and expired games neither add nor deduct points. The leaderboard compares cumulative battle points.
  3. Click with a mouse, or use arrow keys and Enter/Space. On touchscreens, tap an empty intersection to preview, tap another point to adjust, then tap the preview stone again to play. No extra button is needed. Dragging pans the view without placing a stone. Use the full-board button to reset the view.
  4. Computer mode: Undo removes your last move and the computer reply. The first undo permanently makes this match an unscored practice game.
  5. Computer mode: Matches save automatically and can be continued within 24 hours of starting. Pausing or reopening does not extend that period. Starting a new game abandons the unfinished one. An internet connection is required.
  6. Online play uses two players, a 15×15 board, no forbidden moves and randomly assigned sides each match. Black moves first. Each turn allows 90 seconds. A win, opponent resignation or opponent timeout earns 50 friend-match points; losses, draws and aborted matches earn none. These points are separate from computer points. Guests keep personal results; registered accounts enter the online ranking.
  7. Choose Play online and set a room password to create a room. Join with the password or an invitation link, then both players ready up. Rooms hold two players and reject new arrivals when full. Online games have no undo or paused clock. Reopen the room to recover; use Continue on this device when required. Both players share a cumulative 120-second all-offline recovery allowance per match. Leave the room to return to a saved computer game.
  8. Stone placement, victory and defeat have distinct sounds. Toggle sound with the button at the top right. Results appear below the board; a loss clearly says “You lost!”.
